About this speaker

Mariama holds a BA in Anthropology and French Studies from Wesleyan University. Her undergraduate research explored the intersections of race, property, and land in Baltimore City. Upon graduation she moved to New Orleans, LA where she collaborated on the Living Glossary project which offers expanded definitions of real estate terminology through oral history and historical context.

Mariama also worked as a data analyst and researcher with the New Orleans Independent Police Monitor.

As a recent graduate of the London School of Economics’s MsC in Human Geography and Urban Studies program Mariama continues to build on her previous research as she explores decolonial approaches to urban development and community building.
